Stretch a LinkedIn cover to 1584×396

A LinkedIn personal cover is 1584×396. The company cover is a shorter strip at 1192×220, and the company banner is 1128×376. The article cover is 1280×720. That 16:9 still will not sit in the personal strip without flattening.

What a 1584×396 cover does not share with 1192×220

Personal cover, banner, and background are one 1584×396 file. The company cover is 1192×220 and the company banner is 1128×376. A file stretched for the personal strip leaves a gap on the company page.

The feed post is 1200×627. The article post is 1200×644. The article cover is 1280×720. Those three are close and still not interchangeable.

An event cover is 1776×444. A newsletter cover is 300×300. The profile photo and company logo are 400×400. The newsletter square is not a crop of the article image.

How to stretch an image for a LinkedIn frame

Personal covers, company covers, and life-event banners on LinkedIn are all short and wide, and they are not the same short-and-wide.

  1. Step 1

    Open the banner art

A square headshot is a poor start for a 1584×396 cover. Open the wide artwork, or accept that stretching a portrait sideways will pull the face.

  2. Step 2

    Choose the LinkedIn row

Personal cover, banner, and background are 1584×396. Company banner is 1128×376. Company cover is 1192×220. Event cover is 1776×444. Post is 1200×627. Article post is 1200×644. Article cover is 1280×720. Profile and company logo are 400×400. Newsletter cover is 300×300.

  3. Step 3

Mind the name sitting on the cover

The profile photo overlaps the lower left of a personal cover. Stretch important type into that corner and the avatar hides it.

  4. Step 4

Export the post on its own

A 1200×627 post is close to 16:9 and nothing like 1584×396. Download the cover, then stretch again for the post.

LinkedIn banners that look similar and are not

Height is the part people get wrong.

  • Personal cover

1584×396, about 4:1. The same pixels are used for the banner and background rows on this page.

  • Company banner and company cover

Company banner is 1128×376. Company cover is 1192×220, a thinner strip. A personal 1584×396 file leaves the wrong height on both.

  • Event cover

1776×444. Wider than the personal cover. The event title has to stay readable after the stretch.

  • Feed and articles

Post is 1200×627. Article post is 1200×644. Article cover is 1280×720. Those three are feed images, not profile banners.

  • Logo and newsletter

Profile photo and company logo are 400×400. Newsletter cover is 300×300. Stretching the banner down into the logo warps the wordmark.

Why stretch for LinkedIn with ImageStretcher

  • The profile covers the cover

A personal cover is 1584×396. LinkedIn places the round profile photo over the lower-left of that strip, so that corner is hidden.

  • The company cover is shorter

A company cover is 1192×220 and a company banner is 1128×376. Neither matches the personal 1584×396 cover.

  • Articles and newsletters differ

An article cover is 1280×720. A newsletter cover is 300×300. The newsletter square is not a crop of the article image.

  • Event covers are not posts

An event cover is 1776×444. A feed post is 1200×627. The post image does not fill the event strip.

Formats and limits for LinkedIn stretching

Download PNG for a LinkedIn logo or a cover that is mostly type. Download JPEG for a photographic 1200×627 post.

A type-led personal cover at 1584×396 keeps its edges as PNG. A photographic article cover at 1280×720 or a 1200×627 post can be JPEG.

The newsletter square is 300×300. It will not fall out of the 1776×444 event cover.

Two strips, and neither is the article

The wide version is a personal cover. It is still too tall for the company cover, which is a shorter strip, and it is nothing like the 16:9 article image.

The article cover at 1280×720 is ordinary 16:9. The newsletter cover is 300×300. The event cover is 1776×444. Three more files.
