The header and the post start as two photos

This rocket is the header file. Banner, cover, and background become this same picture.

The rocket before the header stretch.

This satellite is the second file. The post, the card, and the round profile all start here.

The round profile hangs off the header strip

X sets the circle on the bottom edge of the header, so half of it hangs below the strip. The circle is the second photo.

This is the in-feed post. It is taller relative to its width than the header.

This is the Card row. It shares the post's width here, so the shorter height is the whole difference.

The large card image is a tiny summary of that card. It is not a scaled post.

Same satellite stretched to an X large card image at 300×157
The large card image is 300×157.

The small card image is the second photo again, not a piece of the header.

The small card image is 144×144.

How to stretch an image for an X frame

The header is a 3:1 strip. The post is 16:9. They are two files.

  1. Step 1

    Open the header artwork

The header is a short strip. A square avatar stretched sideways will not look like one.

  2. Step 2

    Pick the X row

Header, banner, cover, and background are 1500×500. Post is 1200×675. Card is 1200×628. Card image (large) is 300×157. Card image (small) is 144×144. Profile and profile picture are 400×400.

  3. Step 3

    Leave the bottom edge clear

The round profile hangs off the lower left of the header. Stretch the subject into that edge and the avatar covers it.

  4. Step 4

    Export the post second

The in-feed picture comes from the second file. Download it after the header.

X header FAQ

Which X sizes can I stretch on this page?
Each row in the chart. Header, banner, cover, and background are one file. The post is another.
Do banner, cover, and header on X share a size here?
Yes. Those rows are the same strip. The post is a different file.
What covers the corner of an X header?
The round profile hangs off the lower left, halfway below the strip. Leave that edge empty of type.
Is an X post the same shape as a YouTube thumbnail?
The shape is the same 16:9. The X post row is not the 1280×720 YouTube thumbnail, so stretch the post row when the post is the upload.
What should I download for X?
JPEG for the photo post. PNG for a type-based header and for the small card mark.
